It was modernised in 1968, and today serves as Chilmarks village hall, with a seating capacity for 50 people. The Reading Room is available to hire for functions and parties. Village groups use it regularly and fund-raising events take place in it throughout the year. It has a pleasant courtyard garden suitable for barbecues.
